an island nurtured by nature
Soursop and breadfruit, both bright green, are found across the island in abundant forms—cooked, juiced, and fresh off the tree. Tousled banana leaves cover whole valleys. Mango trees give shady spots under which to gather when the day is done, and juicy fruit that tastes different when picked ripe—sweeter.
In St. Kitts, the land is both sweet and generous, plump with fresh vegetables, healing herbs, gardens of grains and wildflowers, and fruiting trees with roots that reach deep into the soil. Ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, and clove grow plenty. Seaside, a fisherman brings in the day’s delicacies: lobster, wahoo, mahi mahi.
Every dish is a show of love—an offering from farmers and fishermen, chefs, cooks, and generations of Kittitians willing to put their hands to the plow, to care for the land like it cares for them.
